Tiffany & Co. (NYSE:TIF) is a recognizable, timeless brand. Its blue box is iconic and synonymous with quality. It's so synonymous with quality that it can raise prices even when underlying commodity prices are declining, as pointed out by SA contributor Tim McAleenan Jr. That said, a strong, recognizable brand doesn't always translate into a strong, wide-moat franchise.
